A happy day!
I am happy. Today.
The DFA is finally putting up an embassy in Syria.
It’s in the news.
This has been the advocacy of the Blas F. Ople Policy Center ever since we
knocked on the DFA’s doors in behalf of human trafficking victims who wanted to come home after suffering maltreatment and abuse from their Syrian employers.
One of them is now staying with me. Her name is Alice. It took time for her to recover. There are more Alices in Syria. Hopefully, they can come home soon, too.
It took time and several knocks for help to come. The repatriation funds needed to be coursed through
the Philippine Embassy in Lebanon which also has its own share of problems to prioritize.
But now, the DFA has announced that our workers would now have a refuge in Syria.
A Philippine Embassy in Syria. Protection, at last.
I am happy. Today.
Thank you, DFA!
