Applications for Jobs In Canada

Ever since I wrote in my column and in this blog about potential jobs in Canada, I’ve been getting a steady stream of resumes from readers of Our Times. I really am grateful for the trust and confidence but don’t want to raise people’s hopes unfairly especially since I’m really just a conduit of information. I do encourage all those interested to get in touch with the Canada Desk of the Department of Labor and Employment. The DOLE Building is in Intramuros, Manila near Manila Bulletin and Illustrado Restaurant. Please send your queries and resumes to dolecanada@yahoo.com.

For those who have written to me earlier, I’ll do my best to forward your e-mails to the POEA and DOLE & perhaps to a few friends in the recruitment business. But lest I be accused of misrepresentation, I would like to stress that I’m not directly linked to any one agency that’s doing business in Canada. I just did basic research on the topic, something that I’m sure a lot of you can also do perhaps even better than yours truly. The fastest and most authoritative way for you to get information about jobs in Canada is to visit or write the Canada Desk of DOLE or get information from the POEA. If you did try to do so and was met with a blank wall, let me know.

Meanwhile, please hang on to your dream and best of luck always!

Please note my above entry – 1) am not associated with any licensed agency and not a part of a government office; 2) I can only give info but unfortunately have no resources for job-matching, though I really wish I do. Given these facts, all I can do really is to point you to the right direction. Write to dolecanada@yahoo.com and ask for a list of accredited agencies that you can apply with. Also, ask about costs and fees – I cannot underscore this enough — the Canadian government and its employers are against local recruitment fees. So if there is an agency that’s charging you for Canada, please please please report the incident right away with complete details to the labor department. Thanks and Good Luck!
